Tournament Format – WBBL
In the Women’s Big Bash League, there are eight teams. Each team plays against every other team two times during the group stage. This is called a round-robin format.
Group Stages and Playoffs
After playing two games against each team in the group stage, the top four teams go to the knockout rounds. This has the semi-finals and the final. These playoff games are very exciting because the teams try their hardest to win the WBBL trophy.
Points and Qualification
In the WBBL, teams earn points based on their performance in each match and that affect the table points tally –
- A win earns two points.
- If a match is tied or abandoned due to rain, both teams share the points.
At the end of the group stage, the top 4 teams with the highest points qualify for the playoffs. 3rd & 4th position will compete against each other in Eliminators. Winner of this game will compete in semi finals 2 against the losing team of semi-finals 1. The playoffs decide final two teams will battle it out to become the WBBL champions.
